Product Description
Move the needle to the next position in your design. Cut a section of soutache about six inches long. Thread the needle through a bead and then one layer of soutache.
Make a small stitch and then thread the needle back through the bead and one layer of soutache.
Position the needle for the next bead and repeat sewing in and out of the soutache to add the rest of the beads.
Cut two more pieces of soutache. Add the second and third layers by sewing them to the first layer.
When you get to the top center, slide a jump ring onto the outer two layers of soutache, and then continue sewing the layers together.
Finish the ends on both sides, just as you did in the previous steps.
For a dangle, sew a jump ring to the design on the back.
To finish the back, cut a piece of backing to match the shape of the design. It may be helpful to cut a paper pattern first to get the size correct before cutting the backing. For this design the center bead sticks out a bit, so to eliminate some of the bulk, cut a hole for it. To neaten the edge of the hole, stitch around it with some thread.
To stitch the backing to the design, cut a new piece of thread. Tie a knot in the end and thread the needle through the backing close to the edge. Then thread the needle between the second and third layer of soutache and come out in the groove. Make a tiny stitch in the groove and thread the needle back where you started. Take a stitch through the backing and repeat, working stitches all around the design.
Finish by taking a few tiny stitches, threading the needle through the loop of the thread before pulling it tight. This will create a knot. Run the tail through the piece to hide it and trim the end.
